Two French Goofballs in Nepal
These two were the best travel companions... Longtime friends from Bordeaux, they left their wives and decided to go on an adventure. This picture encompasses their playfulness as I asked them to demonstrate a "True french kiss" ... In reality, they couldn't get any closer to each other than this, but it was funny.
Best Friends
They met at work, and now, 12 years later, they are trekking in Nepal. They spent a good majority of time explaining to me how to properly pronounce French dirty words. I hope that I have similar friends to adventure with when I am their age. Thanks for the fun times Christophe and Jean-Daniel!
Don't mess with Grace
A picture of my little sister. Just having fun with my brother's new "nifty-fifty" lens..
A more authentic portrait of my sister
After we had some fun with a crazy hair shot, we swapped over to a real portrait.
A cup of tea next to a waterfall
Taking a break from trekking, we stopped at a local Nepali woman's garden and she offered us tea. It had an excellent view of a waterfall on the other side of the river valley.
Hypnosis
Our French friend Christophe, stopped me and started slowly moving his finger in front of my face repeating the words, "You are slooowly becoming FRENCH! ... You are slowly becoming FRENCH! ..." :-)

Pondering eternity
This photo was a little bit of an experiment for me. I wanted to get a photo of the night sky, the snowy ridges of the Annapurna range, AND my friend's face all in one picture. It took maybe 10 tries, but it ended up working out ok. Thank you for your patience! Christophe! 15 second exposure, with a 1/2 second flash of light on his face.
Rachel, the Nepali hairdresser
Our friends had a Nepali porter who heard that Rachel normally cuts my hair. So he walked up to her and repeatedly asked Rachel to cut his hair until she agreed. All we could find was a small pair of surgical scissors. The green plastic around him was actually a bag that worked as his rain poncho during his treks.
Lovin' life on the mountain
Here is Brynn, who was ready to just climb up to the top! It was the first time she ever used crampons and an ice axe.
Funny Couple
These guys were fun to shoot. I initially went over to take shots of their new house, but ended up taking a few of them as well.
The flirt
I was taking a test shot with my pancake lens and it just so happened to turn out nicely! Thank you being a good model, Sarah!
Glasses for the old
Our French friends Jean-Daniel and Christophe noted "Whenever you go to a developing country, everyone always brings items of support for the children, but nobody ever thinks about the old people." So they decided to purchase 35 pairs of reading glasses and distributed them to older people in the villages that we trekked through. This older Tibetan man loved his glasses, and came back to us 10 minutes after he left. He pointed to his knee, thinking that we were doctors and could fix it. :-)
A very proud gardener
After serving us tea & spiced cucumber in her beautiful garden, this woman wanted to have her picture taken in front of her prized flowers with her brand-new reading glasses on. It was funny, at the same time she was brewing tea for us, she was also distilling alcohol over another fire.
The prettiest gal in Nepal
I'm lucky to have such a positive, cheerful, adventurous, empowered, and helpful girlfriend to explore with. Here she is, holding a lens of mine while I was shooting some portraits of people.
Nickname = Prayerflags
Our friend Jean-Daniel built a little bamboo structure above his backpack to help dry his sweaty clothes while he hiked. Oftentimes, they were quite colorful, and we jokingly called him "Prayer flags" as his dirty laundry reminded us of tibetan prayer flags waving in the wind.
